The odd thing
Video-blogging during the Aids/LifeCycle 7 in California (June 2008) was that I was often pedaling alone, and during my most profound moments lost in thought, no one was there to video-tape me but me; I therefore often forgot to do so. This video is a great model for what we are doing in South Africa in August 2010: pedaling 1264km from Johannesburg to Cape Town!
The video is deliberately entertaining and is designed to show what doing AIDS Ride South Africa is really going to entail in both practical (endurance) and fun (hey, it's cycling after all...lighten up bru...) terms–the spandex, the multitudes of attractive men & women (I mean REALLY attractive…like, I’m wearing spandex around THESE people?!!…) and of course, more brave and dedicated people doing something so great with their time and effort that it's impossible to not join yourself and bring others with you. Yes there is the celebrating, but there are also the hills, the sweat, the sand in your throat, and tons of new friends that will last either a lifetime, or until you finish your pap with granola bars.
AIDS Ride South Africa's +1 (plus one) Campaign:
Please commit to spreading the word about AIDS Ride South Africa's ride, fundraising, and fan presence on Facebook to (AT LEAST!) one other person. Lekker, you've just joined a healthy, proactive, and really fun social movement!! |
